About Us

Warrawong on the Darling was set up as a purpose built tourism destination and officially opened in April 2013.  Located 3km east of Wilcannia, just off the barrier Highway, Warrawong on the Darling offers camping, large grassy caravan (both powered and unpowered) sites and self-contained cabins on 1700 acres of working farmland. With 12 km of Darling River frontage and many natural features and beauty typical of the outback area the property was initially purchased as an outback getaway for the owners. During the first year of owning and using the property it was noted that large numbers of caravans and ‘Free Independent Travelers’ (FITS) were travelling through Wilcannia  and Warrawong on the Darling was built based on the requirements of travellers.

Historic Wilcannia

There is a lot more to Wilcannia than people know.

Located along the Darling River within the Central Darling Shire of North Western NSW, Wilcannia was the third largest inland port in the country during the great river boat era of the mid-19th century. Perhaps this is why the Resch’s Brothers chose this location to build their first brewery in Australia (and still partly comprises the Wilcannia Golf Clubs today).

Rich in history, Wilcannia offers many beautiful heritage stone buildings built during the 1800s, including the local hospital, the (old) post office, council chambers, police station and courthouse.

Warrawong on the Darling’s hosts

Your hosts are here to ensure you enjoy every moment of your time at Warrawong on the Darling. They are also lovers of the outdoors and so they set out on their journey to find that ‘ultimate’ outback experience. This has brought them to Warrawong on the Darling as your hosts. Their aim is to bring you a beautiful setting, surrounded by wonderful attractions such as bird watching, fishing, bushwalking and star gazing into the night’s clear skies and if you’re lucky the milkyway….it’s these little extras which make your stay relaxing and memorable.

Hosting a ‘meet’ n ‘greet’ daily around the camp kitchen, Warrawong on the Darling is one of those friendly parks you’ll find yourself recommending to others.

We hope to see you visiting us soon!

“We have just spent four days at Warrawong, and the peaceful serenity of the desert and the Darling River was worth the effort to get here from Bendigo, Victoria.

Managers were the best … beautiful & peaceful stay over for anyone with a lot of miles to travel. The best comfort beds ever for a park …we all loved our stay over.. kids & adults wanted to adopt the emu.
